At least once every two years we are required by the Education Act to consult with the parent community about the school’s Health education programmes. The purpose of this consultation is to

  • Inform our Clearview community of the content of our Health education programmes
  • Consult on how our school should implement Health education at Clearview Primary
  • Ascertain, in broad terms, the health education needs of our students.

Health Curriculum (in the NZ Curriculum)

Health education in the NZ curriculum is split into four (4) key learning areas:

  • Mental Health
  • Body Care and Physical Safety
  • Food and Nutrition
  • Sexuality Education

Below is an overview of Health topics and programmes taught across our school over the past 2 years under each key area.  Please read this overview and let us know your thoughts and feedback by completing this Parent Survey.

This will assist us in meeting the health needs of your child/ren.

Learning Model

Wonderings and Discovery

Wonderings and Discovery provides an activity-based, student directed context in which the Clearview Competencies and Values can be explored and developed.

Children take part in learning journeys where they have the opportunity to test ideas, experiment and take risks.  Children are motivated, engaged to learn and are able to take control of their learning.

Our Inquiry Model is IGNITE – Into It, Get Going, Now We Know, Inquire, Tell The World, Evaluate.

This provides our vehicle for learning through our difference lenses, as explained below.

Lens To Learning

While doing inquiry, we use the following lenses to learn through:

Creativity and Design, The Physical World, Environmental Sustainability, Personal Identity and Wellbeing and Social Responsibility.
