Extra Curricular Activities
At Clearview Primary there are a number of extra curricular opportunities for the students to partake in. Have a look below and check out the school calendar to find out when activities are on.
Art club runs every Wednesday lunchtime for any year 5 to 8 students who is interested. The clubs aim is to offer students the opportunity to create art work using a range of mediums and techniques. Students will create pieces for display around school with a view to enhancing our surrounding further and raising the profile of the arts. We are proud to have two large choirs here at Clearview.
The Junior Choir is for children in Years 3-4 and Jacqui Soper works with this group. We are busy preparing for a performance at the Kids for Kids concert on the evening of Wednesday 12th September and enjoy performing for smaller events such as school assemblies and at the fete.
The Senior Choir is for children in Years 5-8 and Trisa Gregg Espiner teaches this choir. The Senior Choir has a pops choir focus, and later in the year we will be taking part in the Christchurch Schools’ Music Festival on the evening of Friday 26th October.
We are proud to have two growing kapa haka roopu at Clearview.
Our junior roopu (years 1-3) is taught by Karrie Bryce and the senior roopu (years 4-8) is tutored by Matua Anton McLean.
Junior Kapa Haka is offered to students every Wednesday after lunch where they learn waiata, haka and tikanga. Assembly performances and other appearances are scheduled to showcase their work.
Senior Kapa Haka runs every Thursday throughout the year during lunchtime. This roopu have a chance to perform at various school events, mihi whakatau each term and other occasions. There is a Matariki Celebration involving Clearview and other local schools on the evening of Thursday the 14th June.
Sport is a big part of our weekly life at Clearview Primary and we endeavour to take part in a variety of sports throughout the year. Senior children have the the opportunity to represent the school in a variety of zone events throughout the year either as an individual at events or in a team.
Term 1: Swimming, duathlon, gymnastics, orienteering
Term 2: Cross Country, weekly winter sport, football and hockey tournaments and gymnastics
Term 3: Weekly winter sports, netball and rugby tournaments, Koru games
Term 4: Athletics, triathlon, summer sport tournament
