Extra Curricular Activities

At Clearview Primary there are a number of extra curricular opportunities for the students to partake in.  Have a look below and check out the school calendar to find out when activities are on.

We are proud to have two large choirs here at Clearview.

The Junior Choir is for children in Years 3-4 and Jacqui Soper works with this group. Junior Choir runs on a Monday from 12.15pm to 12.45pm. We are busy preparing for a performance at the Kids for Kids concert later in the year and enjoy performing for smaller events such as school assemblies. The Senior Choir is for children in Years 5-8 and Trisa Gregg Espiner teaches this choir. The choir is on Fridays from 11.15am to 12.00pm.  The Senior Choir has a pops choir focus, and later in the year we will be taking part in the Christchurch Schools’ Music Festival.  The Music Festival usually occurs in November. Kapa Haka
We are proud to have two growing kapa haka roopu at Clearview.

Our junior roopu (years 1-3) is taught by Karrie Bryce and the senior roopu (years 4-8) is tutored by Matua Anton McLean.

Junior Kapa Haka is offered to students every Wednesday after lunch where they learn waiata, haka and tikanga. Assembly performances and other appearances are scheduled to showcase their work.

Senior Kapa Haka runs every Thursday throughout the year at 12.00pm – 12.50pm. This roopu have a chance to perform at various school events, mihi whakatau each term and other occasions.

Drama Club
Play Drama Workshops are run by Nickie Hughes. There are two sessions – Group 1 (ages 6-9) at 3:00pm-3:45pm and Group 2 (ages 9-12) is at 3:45pm-4:45pm.
This is held in the small green zone.  If you have any questions about this, please contact Nickie Hughes.

Itinerant Music Lessons
Itinerant music teachers in drums, piano, guitar, ukulele and singing are available to take private lessons at the school. Parents wishing their child/ren to have the opportunity in any area, should contact the tutors listed below for more information. Sport is a big part of our weekly life at Clearview Primary and we endeavour to take part in a variety of sports throughout the year. Senior children have the opportunity to represent the school in a variety of zone events throughout the year either as an individual at events or in a team.

Term 1: Swimming, duathlon, gymnastics, orienteering

Term 2: Cross Country, weekly winter sport, football and hockey tournaments and gymnastics

Term 3: Weekly winter sports, netball and rugby tournaments, Koru games

Term 4: Athletics, triathlon, summer sport tournament
